Tournament Party, every year’s highlight of the tournament!
The party, which always takes place on the evening of the first tournamentday, has become more than legendary over the regular visitors. Flashing Heiloo members and ex-members return to Heiloo from all over Holland and even from outside Holland. Since no one wants to miss it, the IT and its party are first things noted in new agenda’s and calendars.
Not strange, when you consider all the good times you have while remembering last years edition of the tournament. All-year round, Flashing members talk a lot about it in the bar of sportsarena “the Water of the Fen”, because much great stories are created during the tournament and the party. (And they even become better stories as time goes by, yes, we’re getting old;-).) Everyone at Flashing knows that we learnt swimming on the ground from the English yearly visitors from Doncaster. A phenomenon which later grew to a real Flashing tradition at widely varied party occasions (especially when the sounds of Marianne Rosenberg’s Ich bin wie du - hits us directly in the hart). These guys from the U.K. won the Party Pokal for it, or as I should say: DESERVED!!! (you don’t just win it, you have to deserve it…). It’s not a secret that the big trofees won by the poule-winner is nothing compared to the great honour of those who won the most important prize of the tournament: the Party Pokal!
During another edition the Belgian guys got so hot that Dana (with supervision of fireman Robin) had to cool them down with the fire hose. Also great was the fact that highly appreciated referee Bea didn’t bother at all to sing/shout along a karaoke with our ‘farmer friends’ from the north of the country: “we are farmers, we come from the coutryside…!!” (a famous Dutch song sung by “Men’s choire : the cart track”). Directed by the sounds of the internationally experienced party-DJ, the crowd remained restless until late that night…
How many stories, adventures friendships, tired legs and ‘heavy heads’ this year’s jubilee-edition will cause? No one knows… For sure is that it will be another great party!! Flashing Heiloo International Tournament, the party committee looks forward to it!
