Route description to Heiloo (if you click on the word Heiloo you will get a map which gives you a personal route description from your own house!!)
By car
Coming from the direction of Amsterdam or Haarlem:
You have to take the highway A9 in the direction of Alkmaar. Doing so, you will pass underneath the Northsea channel through the 'Wijkertunnel'. At the end of the A9 is a roundabout, which you have to take for ¾ in the direction of Heiloo.*
Coming from the direction of Groningen:
You have to take the highway A7. Doing so, you will cross the 'IJsselmeer' over the ‘Afsluitdijk’. You have to leave the A7 and go in the direction of Heerhugowaard on the N242. Keep following this road till you reach a roundabout in Alkmaar. You have to take it for ½ in the direction of Heiloo.*
* After the roundabout you turn left at the first traffic lights on to the ‘Kennemerstraatweg’, heading for Heiloo. At the first crossing with traffic lights you turn to the right. This is the ‘Kerkelaan’. After you have crossed the railroad, you have to take the second street, ‘de Dors’, to the left. Follow this road (pass the traffic lights) till you can't go any further. At this point you turn to the right and finally you take the first road to the left. You have now entered the parking-place of sport centre ‘Het Vennewater’. The basketball hall is the one left at the back.
When you arrive on Friday-evening, you turn, driving on the ‘Kennemerstraatweg’ to the right at the third crossing with traffic lights (‘Stationsweg’). Take the roundabout for ¾, you are now driving on the ‘Heerenweg’. After about 25 meters you will see Café de Wit on your left and parking space on your right. Some Flashing members, who can show you to the sleeping site after a drink, will be present.
By train
If you are arriving to Heiloo by train. You can check the timetables at www.ns.nl. You can change the language of the internetpage to English on top of the first page. On this website you can make a timetable from any point in Holland to Heiloo.
